Most Rev. Daniel Thomas Auxiliary Bishop of Phila., PA
Bishop Daniel E. Thomas was ordained Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia on July 26, 2006. A native of Philadelphia, he attended Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, PA and was ordained to the priesthood in 1985. At the time of his appointment, he was the second-youngest Bishop in the United States. Prior to his installation, he served for 15 years as an official in the Congregation for Bishops at the Vatican. Currently, Bishop Thomas serves on the Bishops’ Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is home to more than 1.4 million Catholics.
