CLI developed the Awards for Outstanding Catholic Leadership in 2000 to recognize people in the Catholic Church whose exemplary leadership in the family, the workplace, the community and the Church has been inspired by their Catholic faith. The lay, clergy and religious men and women named this year have inspired and led others, serving as role models for future Church and lay leaders.  More information about each honoree can be found below.

The 2010 Awards will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill, PA. Tickets are available for $150 per person. Raymond Arroyo is an internationally recognized, award-winning journalist, seen each week in more than 100 million homes around the globe. As host and creator of EWTN’s international news magazine, “The World Over Live”, Arroyo has interviewed leading figures of the day including a landmark interview with Pope Benedict XVI: the only English language conversation ever recorded with the pontiff. He resides in Virginia with his wife Rebecca and their three children.

Peggie O’Neill is the founder of Prayer Power, a national movement focused on Eucharistic adoration and vocations. Peggie founded Loyalty Management University, a college for advanced leadership development in the Automotive Industry. Peggie is the mother of six sons, wife of 48 years, grandmother of 15 grandchildren and a four time cancer survivor.

Sister Mary Scullion, R.S.M. has been involved in service work and advocacy for homeless and mentally ill persons since 1978. She founded Project H.O.M.E., a nationally recognized organization that provides supportive housing, employment, education and health care to low-income persons. A sister of Mercy, she has led Project H.O.M.E. to grow from an emergency winter shelter to 273 units of housing and three businesses that provide employment to formerly homeless persons.

Rev. Robert J. Spitzer, SJ, Ph.D., is a Jesuit priest, the president of Gonzaga University, an author, speaker, teacher, and a participant in community affairs. His dynamic résumé stems from his diverse areas of interest: public accounting, finance, theology, physics, metaphysics and ethics. Fr. Spitzer averages 130 major business and public presentations per year. He serves as the International Chaplain for Legatus and the Director of the Institute for Professional Ethics.
