CLI developed the Awards for Outstanding Catholic Leadership in 2000 to recognize people in the Catholic Church whose exemplary leadership in the family, the workplace, the community and the Church has been inspired by their Catholic faith. The lay, clergy and religious men and women named this year have inspired and led others, serving as role models for future Church and lay leaders.  More information about each honoree can be found below.

The 2010 Awards will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill, PA. Tickets are available for $150 per person. Immaculée Ilibagiza is an author and avid activist for children orphaned by the horror of genocide. As a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, Immaculée has shared her incredible story of courage and love through her critically-acclaimed book Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust. Translated into fifteen languages, Left to Tell has been embraced by millions around the world as an extraordinary example of the peace that can be achieved through forgiveness and prayer. Immaculée is a loving wife and mother of two and is an internationally recognized speaker on faith, peace and forgiveness.



Sr. Francesca Onley, CSFN, Ph.D., is an internationally-recognized educator and member of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. As the president of Holy Family University for 27 years, she has guided the college to prominence as a leader in Catholic higher education. Sr. Francesca has been involved in several worldwide peacemaking efforts through her work with the United Nations; believing foremost, that “education is the key to peace.”

Robert J. Sims has dedicated his God-given gifts and talents to the Catholic Church and Her priests. A successful business executive in the financial planning industry, Robert has been a life-long supporter of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in time, talent and treasure. He served as an advisor to three cardinals and supported many initiatives within the Church that have made a tremendous impact for the faithful of Philadelphia. As a husband, father and proud grandfather, Robert is the definition of a exemplary Catholic family man.
