Manager, Instructional Design

The Manager, Instructional Design is responsible for overall program management for the development and ongoing maintenance of CLI’s learning materials and the supervision and day-to-day workflow of the Instructional Design team. 

Using recognized instructional design and project management methodologies, this hands-on manager will design, develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum materials while also coordinating the efforts of internal and external resources to meet all curriculum related goals and timelines.  The Manager, Instructional Design will collaborate with senior management, learning leaders, and other subject matter experts to design curriculum materials that consistently provide world-class leadership training to our client audiences on time and on budget.  This role also includes all associated functions to support the development and implementation of future training products, programs, or learning modalities.

Recruitment Requirements:

Experience: 

  • Highly skilled professional with at least 5-10 years of experience in instructional design as well as hands-on development of training materials.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Experience collaborating with various leadership levels within organizations to produce learning materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through project planning and accepted instructional design methodologies.
  • Leadership experience in organizations or demonstrated ability to achieve results through organizational influence.
  • Able to create and execute multiple project plans according to priorities.
     

Skills:  

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with emphasis on project planning, program management, resource allocation and managing multiple priorities
  • Proven accomplishments in assessing needs, identifying desired outcomes, and creating instructional materials in support of leadership development.
  • Understanding of Adult Learning Theory as it applies to training design, development and implementation.
  • Collaborative leadership skills that foster confidence and cooperation with all internal and external colleagues and clients
  • Highly developed people and communication skills
  • Respect for and understanding of the Roman Catholic community, parish life and ministry
  • Computer competence with programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Writer, Publisher, and In-Design.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Systems, Training Design, Organizational Development, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. 

Key Responsibility Areas

  1. Vision and Plan:  Evaluate changing needs, strategic plans, and existing learning materials to identify learning requirements and then create corresponding instructional design plans to meet the leadership learning requirements of our clients.
  2. Design: Through collaboration with subject matter experts, develop and test learning materials that meet the leadership learning requirements of our clients in order to meet the goals set out in our strategic plan.
    Implementation: Update and maintain instructional materials as needed based on feedback from clients, management, learning leaders, and surveys in order to ensure that our leadership programs remain relevant to the needs of our clients.
  3. People/Relationships: Collaborate, consult, and build credibility with appropriate team, board members, and outside subject matter experts and stakeholders as we develop world-class pastoral leadership training formation opportunities in service to our mission.
    Lead and supervise Instructional Design team members and consultants in the development and life cycle management of CLI curriculum materials to ensure world class quality in service to our learners.

We offer: Competitive salary and meaningful ministry
Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000
