St. Therese of Liseux Society
I understood that if the Church had a body composed of different members, the most necessary and most noble of all could not be lacking to it, and so I understood that the Church had a Heart and that this Heart was burning with love. I understood it was Love alone that made the Church’s members act, that if Love ever became extinct, apostles would not preach the Gospel and martyrs would not shed their blood. I understood that Love comprised all vocations, that Love was everything, that it embraced all times and places...in a word, that it was eternal!Story of a Soul, St. Therese of Lisieux
The St. Therese Society was established to honor all those who have taken the special step of including the Catholic Leadership Institute in their long-term plans through life income, bequest and other estate and planned gifts. This legacy gift ensures ongoing leadership formation and support for our bishops, priests and lay leaders that strengthen their confidence and competence in ministry.
The Society is named for St. Therese of Lisieux, known as the “Little Flower.” St. Therese left behind a spiritual legacy for the Church. Her writings did not become well known until after her passing, but have since, impacted and influenced generations of Catholics worldwide by deepening their relationship with Christ.
In September 1890, at her canonical examination before she professed her religious vows, she was asked why she had come to Carmel. She answered “I came to save souls, and especially to pray for priests.” St. Therese’s prayerful support of our priests and desire to enable the salvation of souls is one that is echoed in Catholic Leadership Institute’s mission and vision. A legacy gift to the Catholic Leadership Institute enables continued ministry to our bishops, priests and lay leaders so that they are empowered to minister to their people and create more vibrant faith communities rooted in Jesus Christ.
