Gregory M. Aymond, Bishop of Austin, TX; Most Rev. Thomas Wenski, Bishop of Orlando, FL; Most Rev. David Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh, PA; Most Rev. George Lucas, Bishop of Springfield, IL; Most Rev. The Episcopal Advisory Board of Catholic Leadership Institute was formed to further enhance the organization’s leadership development and formation programming to better serve priests and lay faithful throughout the country. Currently, Catholic Leadership Institute offers a two-year leadership training program for priests, entitled Good Leaders, Good Shepherds (GLGS). They are also preparing to deliver complementary leadership skill building practices to parish and diocesan staff members in the Spring of this year.
With the support of the bishops and their presbyterates, GLGS is being delivered to 30 United States dioceses, including the major metropolitan Archdioceses of Philadelphia, Boston, Denver, St. Louis, Galveston-Houston and Detroit. “I am pleased to partner with my brother bishops in support of the ministry of Catholic Leadership Institute. Their work has made a tremendous impact on so many dioceses around the country and I look forward to the opportunity to further their efforts of building happy, healthy and holy leaders for the Church,” said Bishop Gregory Aymond, Bishop of Austin, TX and Episcopal Moderator of CLI’s Advisory Board.
Good Leaders, Good Shepherds is designed to equip clergy with the relevant, practical and pastoral leadership skills necessary to shepherd a parish and support the governing office of their priesthood. During the two-year program priests learn about the various contexts in which they lead, and specific skill sets within each context that will help them lead most effectively and collaboratively.
