National Diocesan And Parish Leaders Gather for Pilot Program [ Back to News Articles ]

Catholic Leadership Institute is excited to introduce a new leadership program for parish staff and diocesan leaders. The program will be a complementary curriculum to CLI’s highly successful clergy leadership program, Good Leaders, Good Shepherds.

The curriculum, to be rolled out in May, was developed to support Catholic Leadership Institute’s ongoing efforts to build vibrant faith communities committed to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. “The program seeks to strengthen the overall quality of ministerial relationships and increase the quality of parish life and leadership,” said Fr. Bill Dickinson, National Director for Leadership Development.

The pilot which will begin in late April in Philadelphia, PA, includes parish staff and diocesan leaders from around the country, including Jeanette DeMelo, Director of Communications for the Archdiocese of Denver, CO. “I’ve spent a lot of time learning about the faith but not enough time pursuing the practical skills of leadership needed to put it into play,” said De Melo. “I am excited to be a part of this experience so I can learn the skills to work more effectively in my role as Director of Communications for the Archdiocese. I want to play to win rather than let my passion burn out in frustrated toil,” De Melo concluded. The formation curriculum complements the primary leadership skills and practices delivered in Good Leaders, Good Shepherds. Therefore, any parish or diocese with priests enrolled or graduated from Good Leaders, Good Shepherds is eligible to participate when the program launches nationally in May.

The comprehensive curriculum focuses on five different areas of leadership development: leadership of self, one-to-one, team, organizational and leadership in the Kingdom of God. Over the course of a two year period, participants will work with CLI Learning Leaders and their pastors to develop as confident and competent leaders who understand their role in building up God’s Kingdom.
