How did you learn about Catholic Leadership Institute and what inspired you to get involved with the mission?

Several years ago, my friend and 2006 Awards recipient Peg O’Neill, asked me to help Catholic Leadership Institute when the organization was located at the Malvern retreat site. I learned about the mission and was very impressed with the passion and commitment of the organization to build authentic Catholic leaders through leadership formation. Drawing upon my resources, I offered to help reorganize the tight space at Malvern. I have been a supporter of Catholic Leadership ever since.

What do you find most exciting about being involved with Catholic Leadership Institute?

What I find most exciting about Catholic Leadership Institute is that they work every day to model the leadership skills and practices they are teaching in the classroom. Recently, I was at their headquarters for a meeting. The time frame overlapped with a scheduled afternoon prayer session. It was inspiring! In all of the years that I have been in business, I have never walked away from a meeting feeling the way I did that day. Its great to take a few minutes in the afternoon to reflect and pray. As a result, whenever possible, I try to take a few minutes to stop and reflect during my work day.

Why do you feel it is important for each of us to use our gifts and talents in service to the Church?

Many years ago, I worked for a company that coined a phrase “individual genius," meaning that each of us has a special gift that is unique. In my way, providing office furniture to create a professional setting for CLI to enable the organization to reach its true potential, is using my “individual genius.”
