Mexican American, originally from Los Angeles California and San Luis Potosí México. Married for 20 years with Nancy with 10 children. Son of immigrant parents. His mother consecrated him to Saint Gerard whose name means "sword of God" and to the Virgen of Carmen. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and communications, a master's degree in theology and ministry and a doctorate in ministry in pastoral theology. He has been religion and catechetical consultant for William H Sadlier. He has been professor of theology at Catholic Distance University and University of St Thomas. He was for 8 years the associate director of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. His experience at the parish context has been extensive including pastoral associate, Hispanic ministry and director of family discipleship. Its conversion process began in May 2007 at the foot of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville Illinois.
