John D. LaBarbara

Senior Learning Experience Designer

John LaBarbara serves as the Senior Learning Experience Designer for the Catholic Leadership Institute. Prior to this role, John served the Archdiocese of Denver for 14 years as a Leadership Consultant and Instructor at the St. John Vianney Seminary (Lay and/or Seminary Divisions), where he created and taught courses in Servant Leadership, Advanced Strategic Leadership, and Apologetics for the New Evangelization. He also taught courses in Sacred Scripture.

He is the Founding Principal of CALC Inc. (the Center for Advanced Leadership Consulting), has served as the Vice President of Operations for FOCUS, the Chief Operating Officer of the Augustine Institute where he designed and launched their distance education program, the interim COO for both Endow and the Catholic Psychotherapy Association, a Field Director for Prison Fellowship, and the Director of Advancement Operations for Benedictine College. Prior to that John worked for over 20 years in corporate roles of increasing responsibility including Area Manager, Director of Operations, Region VP, VP of Operations, an VP of Training and Development. He specialized in the operations side of acquisitions, turn-arounds, and new business start-ups.

John graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Sacred Scripture from Simpson University and went on to study New Testament Greek at Fuller Seminary. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Angela, and together they have five adult children and four grandchildren. John and Angela reside in Atchison, KS and are adult converts to Catholicism from an Evangelical Protestant background.
