Deacon Tim Slayter

Deacon Tim Slayter was raised in a military family and moved homes several times in his youth, eventually attending high school in Frederick County, Maryland. He spent his undergraduate years at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he met his wife, Stephanie, and earned a bachelor’s in economics. After completing additional education coursework, Deacon Tim served as a middle school language arts teacher. Since, he has completed a master's program in school leadership from the Notre Dame University of Maryland and has held administrative roles at several elementary schools. Deacon Tim currently serves as principal of his third elementary school which offers a successful Spanish Immersion Program to students across the school district.

Deacon Tim was ordained to the diaconate in 2017 for the Diocese of Arlington, and currently serves the faithful at Sacred Heart Parish in Manassas, Virginia. As a deacon, he has served in various diocesan leadership roles, including membership on the bishop’s strategic five-year plan committee, diocesan pastoral council, the diocesan diaconal council of which he is also chair. Deacon Tim joined the Catholic Leadership Institute in 2023.

Deacon Tim and his wife, Stephanie have been married since 1997, and have been blessed with three children, two in college and one in high school. In his free time, Tim especially enjoys spending time with family, working in the garden, and completing creative home projects.
