Samuel B. LaVergne, president of Hunter Buildings, has been an important figure in the blast-resistant building industry for over 20 years. He was instrumental in the conception, design, and manufacturing of Hunter Buildings’ blast-resistant buildings for use in refineries and petrochemical plants. Since 1997, Sam has played a key role in the growth and demand of Hunter’s quality products and services.

Sam received his doctorate of jurisprudence in 1989 from Louisiana State University, preceded by a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Louisiana Tech University. He began his professional career as an attorney focusing on environmental, health & safety issues. Sam is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and is affiliated with several industry organizations.

Sam is passionate about his faith, family, and community. Sam has been active in Legatus, previously serving as president of the Baton Rouge chapter and as a member of the National Board of Governors. Sam also serves on the Board of Directors of the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS). He and his wife Sally live in Houston, and have four children and six grandchildren.
