On March 7, 2026, Pope Leo XIV appointed Archbishop Gabriele G. Caccia as the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States. The Apostolic Nuncio serves as the Pope’s diplomatic and ecclesiastical representative, functioning both as an ambassador and liaison to the local Church. Since 2016, this role has been held by Christophe Cardinal Pierre.

To celebrate his many years of service, CLI and a few bishops from across the country came together to celebrate his many years of outstanding leadership.
